Article dated: 9 May 2013

Bookings are now open for a one-day course by the UK Data Service Census on using UK census data geographically.

This course, in Edinburgh on Thursday 6 June 2013, has a series of presentations and hands-on practical exercises and you will:

  • learn about UK census datasets and online tools which are available through UK Data Service Census Support
  • create maps and other geographical visualisations from 2011 UK census data
  • compare census data with other geographical datasets
  • explore some of the issues that arise when comparing 2011 UK census data with data from past UK censuses

There is no charge for this event. The course is open to students or members of staff from UK institutions of higher or further education registered with the UK Data Service.

No prior experience in using census or geographical data is assumed but participants should be familiar with the Microsoft Windows environment.
